As the name suggests, the chain connecting link is used to establish a connection between a chain with sling connections or two chains. Two different forms of chain link are produced, one is produced in two pieces with a rod and the other is produced like a chain bead with a connecting screw that opens and closes the ring. In heavy applications, only the first type, the two-piece oval steel chain connecting link, is used to connect chain slings.
