Dry G80 chain, which has a high percentage of 97% iron in its alloy composition, is one of the most widely used grades of steel chain. This grade is produced from steel chain with medium carbon percentage, but its mechanical characteristics have been improved by performing a precise heat treatment. This heat hardening process causes higher continuity and, as a result, higher abrasion and tensile resistance in the chain steel crystals. The most commonly used size of this grade of chains is 6 mm to 24 mm, which is used in the manufacture of chain slings and also lifting connections. G80 grade chain must be produced and manufactured according to DIN 818 standard.
