It is obvious that steel core structures have higher tensile strength, less flexibility, higher weight per unit length and more cost than hemp core drill string.
The use of hemp in the core of the 6-strand drilling wire rope is often done to achieve more flexibility, which is one of the most important quality characteristics of the drilling rig wire rope. In fact, although hemp fibers provide less tensile capacity than a steel core, they are instead very soft and prevent the layered compression of strands or strands as well as interlayer wear in the structure of the drilling wire rope. .
